What is this service?

The project aims to provide flexible respite for carers by offering support to people in their own homes. Support is given by full-time volunteers who are trained by us and also by the carer and cared-for person so that the care is provided in the way that the family wants.

Carers of age age caring for any adult over the age of 18 can use the service. Support can be offered for regular, short breaks, either half day each week or a whole day every other week.

Volunteers cannot provide help with personal carer but they can stay with the person with care needs to keep them company and ensure their safety while the carer takes a brea. They can also take the cared for person out for a walk, for example.

This is a free service funded from the London Borough of Bexley, Royal Borough of Greenwich and the City Bridge Trust. Volunteers cannot accept any personal payment but donations to Carers' Support are welcome.
